About Citizens Against Expanded Gambling

Founded in 2015, Citizens Against Expanding Gambling (CAEG) is the only organization exclusively dedicated to lobbying against the expansion of gambling in Wisconsin. We inform, equip and engage 1,000s in our statewide grassroots coalition of citizens, employers and community leaders who share a common concern about the explosion of gambling in Wisconsin. The world’s largest online betting group, Flutter Entertainment, plans to fight a Kentucky Supreme Court ruling imposing more than $870 million in damages from an old lawsuit against one of the company’s newly-acquired subsidiaries. Shares in Flutter, which also owns the U.S. sports betting group FanDuel, slid more than 3% in London trading on Friday, as the market reacted carefully to a court decision that the company said came as a surprise. Both casino plans in the Stateline Area are still waiting on a final ruling as the Ho-Chunk Nation’s Beloit casino plan remains with Wisconsin Gov. Kenosha considers $22M to help Potawatomi, Zilber redevelop Dairyland site

The $205 million redevelopment of Kenosha’s former Dairyland Greyhound Park into apartments, industrial buildings and offices could receive $22 million in city tax incremental financing. The Forest County Potawatomi Community and Zilber Property Group of Milwaukee are seeking approvals for that redevelopment. Casinos pursue cashless route

The American casino industry wants gambling regulators to make it easier to adopt cashless payment transactions on the casino floor, citing a desire to help customers avoid handling money during the coronavirus outbreak. Supreme Court agrees gas station video game/phone chargers are gambling machines

The West Bend man started a company called Quick Charge Kiosk that modified video gambling machines to provide charging for cell phones and put them in gas stations and convenience stores around the state. The Attorney General quickly deemed the kiosks illegal gambling machines, and seized many of them. Billionaire investor George Soros holds stake in DraftKings

The 89-year-old philanthropist is one of several big-name investors to receive shares in the sports-betting company since it went public through a reverse merger on April 23. According to a filing last week with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Quantum Partners, an investment vehicle run by Soros Fund Management, holds 2.7 million DraftKings Class A shares.
